Founded in 1987 by four colleagues who were dedicated to the improvement of leadership in America’s schools, HYA is the nation’s largest executive search firm serving public school districts.  Dr. William Hazard, then Professor of Educational Leadership at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL; Dr. Charles Young, then superintendent of Schools in Glencoe, IL; Dr. William Attea, then Superintendent of Schools in Glenview, IL; and Dr. Roderick Bickert, then Superintendent of the New Trier High School District in Winnetka, IL, established HYA with a mission to provide school boards an opportunity to be engaged in thorough, aggressive and quality superintendent searches.
